How to Block a Domain in Hotmail

We've all received pesky email messages about spam e-greeting cards, fake diet pills, bogus stock offerings and bank accounts we've never opened. Many of these emails emanate from the same domain name, such as fakeguy.com. By blocking a domain name, you can save time and inbox space. Once blocked, the unwanted emails aren't delivered to your inbox by your ISP. Here's how to block a domain on your Hotmail account.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Step1
Click on "Options" in the far right corner of your screen. You'll see a "Personal Options" list in the middle of the screen. There's a column to the left with five choices: Personal, Mail, Calendar, Contacts and Upgrade. Choose "Mail."
Step2
Look at the middle of your screen. "Junk E-Mail Protection" will be the first choice on the mail options list. Select it, and a new list opens.
Step3
Hit "Block Senders," the fourth choice on the menu. Under the heading
"Type a single e-mail address (or domain)," there's a box. Enter the domain you want to block in that box, and then hit the "Add" tab. The domain name will appear in the large box on the right of the single-line box.
Step4
Continue the process for every domain name you want to block. When you are finished, hit the "OK" button. The screen reverts to the "Junk E-mail Protection" list. If you want to remove a domain name from the blocked list, highlight it with your cursor and hit the "Remove" button.
Step5
Go to the blue "Mail" tab in the upper-middle portion of your screen and return to your inbox. Read and delete mail as normal. The blocked domains won't be delivered to your Hotmail inbox or to the spam folder.
