Step 1
Go to "Old Town" in the game to adopt your pets. Make sure you budget enough time to do this so your Sim doesn't miss work or put off some other chore. Call the "Old Town Shuttle" for a ride to Old Town. You must bring your entire family to adopt a pet in the Sims Unleashed.

Step 2
Go to the pet store once in Old Town. Make sure you have enough money to purchase a pet.

Click on the dog or cat you want and choose "Adopt." To purchase birds, fish, turtles and iguanas, click on them and they will be placed into your inventory. Once you get home, purchase a cage in the "Buy Mode" for your new pet. These pets are now yours and will require your Sim's attention to stay healthy.

Step 4
Adopt a stray pet. If you don't want to spend money or the time going to Old Town to purchase a pet, you may be able to adopt a stray. Strays may come to your Sim's house. Feed the stray and take care of it. Eventually, the option to adopt the stray may appear. Just like in the real world, if you adopt a stray you will not be able to choose its color, breed or sex.
