You don't have to put toxic commercial hair dyes on your red hair to enhance and brighten its color. You can find natural ways to make your red hair look its best. The following steps will show you how.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Can of beets
  • Metal bowl or sauce pan
  • Carrot juice
  • Metal spoon
  • Old towel
  • Shower cap
  • Shampoo
  • Conditioner
Step1
Pour half a cup of beet juice into a metal bowl or sauce pan. Pour half a cup of carrot juice into the metal bowl with the beet juice.
Step2
Mix the 2 ingredients together with a metal spoon.
Step3
Wash your hair. Rinse it well.
Step4
Pour the mixture onto your hair while you're in the shower. Sit in the tub and pour it on as close to the drain as possible to avoid splattering the mixture over the wall tile and shower curtain. It will leave stains.
Step5
Put an old towel around your shoulders. Put a shower cap on your head so you don't get any of the mixture on your clothes.
Step6
Sit in the heat of the sun for about an hour, letting the mixture soak into your hair.
Step7
Wash the mixture out of your hair thoroughly and condition. Repeat this treatment each day until you receive the desired results.

Tips & Warnings

  • Do not use plastic bowls or cups to mix your dye. It could permanently stain the plastic.
  • You can darken your natural red hair by rinsing it with strong black coffee and letting it sit on your hair for 30-to-45 minutes under a shower cap. This will give your red hair a natural, dark red look.
  • Use strong rosehip tea to give your hair a brighter red color. Boil 1/2 cup to one cup rosehips with 2 cups water until the mixture boils down to half. Apply to your hair after it cools. Let it sit on the hair for 1 hour.
  • Apply strong hibiscus tea to give red hair a warmer hue. Boil 5-10 tablespoons of hibiscus in 2 cups water until it boils down to half and rinse your hair with the mixture several times after it cools. Let it sit on your hair for 1 hour.
