How to Win Alterac Valley

Alterac Valley is the first raid battleground in World of Warcraft (WoW). It may seem complex to those who lack experience with it, but Alterac Valley is actually a massive, fast-paced race to the end boss. With some strategy, you'll get through it intact.

Instructions

    • 1

Set up an offense and defense. About 10 members are generally designated defense while the rest push forward; however, this depends on the team. Talk with other players to decide whether to put a greater emphasis on offense or defense.

    • 2

Carry out the side quests. Both Alliance and Horde have designated non-player characters (NPC's), where you can turn in loot from enemy kills. Nothing strikes terror into enemy hearts like summoning Lokar the Ice Lord or ordering a gryphon air strike. Side quests can win a round of Alterac Valley.

    • 3

Take the closest graveyards first. Many games of Alterac Valley have been lost when a team becomes too eager and bypasses a graveyard in favor of one farther in. This may seem quicker, but allows the enemy to spawn again and again at the graveyard you skipped, putting you under almost constant attack.

    • 4

Make sure every player knows where they're needed. It generally takes about 15 people to bring down the main boss and marshals. At the same time, someone must defend your own base and others must protect the offense's rear from enemy attack.

    • 5

Concentrate the last boss's aggro by keeping him focused on one person. Designate a main tank and allow him to get in at least 3 or 4 sunders before starting. The boss will not attack the squishier damage per second (DPS) units. In addition, all healers should focus on the main tank.
