Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Check with your Internet service provider to see what current broadband upload and download speed you have. USRobotics wireless routers can range in download speed from 54 Mbps to 125 Mbps. Find out how fast your Internet service is because your wireless router can only download as fast as your Internet connection speed. Look for the router with a speed close to the maximum speed of your Internet service.
Step2
Decide if you want an internal or an external wireless antenna. An internal antenna is convenient because it does not protrude up, takes up less space and is suitable for travel. However, external antennas may have better range. If you want to travel with a high-range router, look for one with a removable antenna.
Step3
Browse the current models on the USRobotics website. Choose your country and then from the "Products" menu click on "Wireless." The various routers available are detailed. Purchase the router you choose directly from the USRobotics website.
Step4
Look for the range of the router on the USRobotics website or on the product packaging. The range should be displayed as by how many feet away from the router a wireless signal is available. This includes through walls and outside. Measure the distances to places you may want to use the Internet to find how long of a range you need.
Step5
Read some reviews for any USRobotics routers you are considering at online review sites. Check CNET.com for professional reviews and Epinions.com for people's personal reviews..
Step6
Find a good price by checking out the websites PriceGrabber and MySimon. Compare online prices with the USRobotics price and the price at other retailers.
