How to Put Grip Tape on a Wakeskate
After you've used your wakeskate for a while, there's a good chance your grip tape will need to be replaced. Over time it tends to wear smooth and become slippery, throwing you off your game. You can reapply grip tape yourself by following these steps.

1
Buy the grip tape and cut it so that it fits the length of your board. The width of the grip tape should exceed the width of your wakeskate by 1 to 2 inches.
-
2
Decide if you want to add a creative touch. You can cut designs and words into your grip tape with a razor blade. You can also make or buy stencils to create designs that you can't do yourself. Cut these designs now, before you stick the grip tape to your board.

3
Plan out how you want the grip tape to lay on your wakeskate. If you created designs from multiple sections, lay them out to ensure you have enough to cover the entire deck. Start with the center of the deck and work your way to the edges.
-
4
Remove the backing of the grip tape. Carefully apply it to the board, ensuring there are no air bubbles underneath as you go. Begin at the center of the board, and apply the tape outward to the front and rear of the skate.

5
Slide the metal part of the screwdriver over the grip tape at the edges of your wakeskate firmly, back and forth. You should see the edge wear a line into the grip tape so that you know where to cut it. This also keeps the grip tape stuck firmly to your wakeskate while cutting. Do this all around the board.

6
Cut from underneath with a clean, sharp razor blade to remove the excess edges of the grip tape. Allow the blade to rest against the board as a guide, and cut a clean straight edge. Use the line that the screwdriver made to know where to cut.
-
7
Flip the board upside down on the ground and walk over it, to get the grip tape stuck firmly to the deck of the wakeskate.
