As a public relations professional, it is vital that you join a networking group where other public relations professionals meet and discuss various topics regarding your profession. The people you meet at the networking groups will become valuable contacts who you can use to get job leads, as references and people who you can bounce your new ideas off.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy
Step1
Speak with your colleagues and other people you know that work in public relations regarding networking groups. They may belong to or know of someone who belongs to a local networking group.
Step2
Call or go online to research the association or societies you belong to so you can see if they offer any networking events. If you don't belong to an association or society, research them online to see if the benefits of joining include networking events. The Public Relations Society of America is a large organization for public relations professionals, and they offer networking groups based on location, professional interests and personal interests.
Step3
Contact your alma mater to see if they have any networking groups for alumni. If they do not, they may be able to put you in contact with some other alumni who would be interested in starting one.
Step4
Go online to find and join professional networking sites such as "Networking for Professionals" or "LinkedIn," where you can find and meet other public relations professionals online to form networking groups.
Step5
Join Meetup.com to join a public relations networking group. At Meetup.com you can find out if there is a networking group in your area or somewhere near. The arrangements of the meeting are usually determined online and then you will meet with other public relations professionals at a given time on a given day.
Step6
Form your own public relations networking group by contacting other public relations professionals to see if they are interesting in joining a networking group where everyone can exchange information and make valuable contacts.
