Hypnosis is a rapidly more acceptable treatment for many mental conditions. One of the more popular hypnosis treatments is to help others overcome anxiety. The advances in techniques and positive outcomes from hypnosis treatment are promising for those who have tried almost every other method to deal with their anxiety problems. Follow these steps to help you use hypnosis to overcome anxiety.

Step1
Evaluate the level of the anxiety you hope to overcome, either in yourself or in your client if you are a clinician. Administer or take some sort of test in which you can discern the severity, duration and scope of the anxious feelings.
Step2
Visit or refer to a medical doctor for a full medical examination to rule out any medical conditions. Return to hypnotherapy and give a determination as to whether the anxiety is organic or psychological.
Step3
Locate where the anxiety is in the body; most people experience it in the stomach, head, sometimes legs and arms. Write down words associated with that body part. These words used by patient to describe anxious feelings will be used later in the hypnotic suggestion.
Step4
Pick a hypnotic method, such as direct suggestion, counting method, progressive relaxation, etc. Find a hypnotic specialist or locate an instructional book that will aid in the hypnotic process.
Step5
Find somewhere quiet where there will be no interruptions. Carefully deliver or have delivered your hypnotic suggestions so that you ensure maximum benefit from your hypnotic sessions.
Step6
Repeat hypnotic process until desired result is reached. Add cognitive suggestions to help aid in the midst of anxiety or panic attacks.

  • If you are not a hypnosis yourself, then find one who is experienced. The results of hypnosis are typically better with a professional.
  • Do not try hypnotism with an untrained individual. Ask to see credentials before allowing someone to hypnotize you.
