How to Make Edible Valentine's Day Decorations

Valentine's Day is a great time to try out some original treats to surprise your guests with, at your next Valentine's party. They aren't only fun and easy to make, but taste delicious. Your kids will love to pitch in and help you make some edible Valentine's Day decorations.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Wreath-shaped gelatin mold or bundt pan
  • Non-stick cooking spray
  • Small hard candy hearts
  • One recipe Rice Krispie treats
  • Red food coloring

    Valentine's Candy Bouquet

  1. Step 1

    Tint the wooden skewers with green food coloring and allow them to dry completely.

  2. Step 2

    Knead the chocolate chip cookie dough and flour together until well mixed.

  3. Step 3

    Chop 1 cup of miniature candy bars into small pieces and carefully knead the pieces into the cookie dough mixture.

  4. Step 4

    Shape the dough into approximately 2 to 3 inch circles and flatten them slightly with your hand. Insert a skewer into each circle and bake until golden brown, about 10 to12 minutes.

  5. Step 5

    Remove from oven and while the cookies are still hot, carefully press an unwrapped chocolate candy heart into the middle of each cookie.

  6. Step 6

    Poke a tiny hole in each square of cellophane and slide a skewer through each hole. Bring the cellophane up around the cookie, gather the excess cellophane at the top of the cookie and tie it with a piece of ribbon.

  7. Step 7

    Cut leaves from the green construction paper and glue them to the stems. Gather the candy flowers together and arrange them in a vase or Valentine container.

  9. Step 1

    Spray gelatin mold or bundt pan with non-stick spray.

  10. Step 2

    Make one batch of Rice Krispie treats, following the recipe on package.

  11. Step 3

    Stir in enough red food coloring to make the mixture pink.

  12. Step 4

    Press the mixture into the bundt pan or gelatin mold.

  13. Step 5

    Remove from pan very carefully and display your edible Valentine's Day wreath.

Tips & Warnings
  • For an romantic holiday treat, add a few Valentine candy flowers to a bouquet of real red roses.
