Who wouldn't want to be Cher? Her career has spanned five decades. Not only does she have countless well-known songs, such as "Gypsies, Tramps and Thieves," "If I Could Turn Back Time" and "Believe," but she's also won an Academy Award, a Grammy, an Emmy and three Golden Globe awards. Impersonating Cher can be a fun and lucrative career choice with legions of fans ready to employ your services.

Difficulty: Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Buy a Cher outfit. You'll have to decide which decade to use, because Cher reinvents her image at least once every ten years.

  2. Step 2

Do some research. Did you know that Cher's real name is Cheryl Sarkisian LaPierre? Or that she's won an Academy Award? You should also know all about her TV show with husband Sonny Bono.

  3. Step 3

Familiarize yourself with Cher's songbook collection. Since her career spans decades, all the way back to the 60's, you'll have a lot of memorizing to do.

  4. Step 4

Learn Cher's mannerisms and key phrases she uses. She always flips her long, dark hair back and has a very distinct way of speaking.

  5. Step 5

Practice. There is nothing worse than a bad impersonation and if Cher finds out you're doing one of her, she may be forced to track you down.

  6. Step 6

Create a name for your act. Consider a play on words, using one of Cher's songs or famous lines from a movie.

  7. Step 7

List your act on a website, such as Gig Salad or Gig Masters, to start booking gigs for your Cher impersonating act.

Tips & Warnings
  • Find a Sonny Bono to team up with. If you do find a Sonny, make sure you can sing, "I've Got You, Babe."
