You're hunting around for a good table to play Blackjack at a new casino. Finally, you find one but there's something different. It looks like they're playing 21, or blackjack, but there's a little more to it. It might just be the game 21+3. The rules for this blackjack variation are relatively simple to pick up.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Sit down to the table and buy in for the amount that you wish to spend.

  2. Step 2

Look for the chart showing a payoff for three card poker, which is played with your first two blackjack cards and the dealer's up card. If you get two eight cards, for example, and the dealer turns up an eight, then you get a payback of 9 to 1 for a three of a kind on your three card poker bet. Other 9 to 1 pays are a straight, a flush and a straight flush. All of these pay the same 9 to 1 return.

  3. Step 3

Check the bet minimums as you would on any blackjack table. Also check what the minimum is for the three card poker bet.

  4. Step 4

Look for the normal spot for your blackjack bet. Place your normal wager there. Beside that is a smaller circle the size of a poker chip. This is where the three card poker bet is placed.

  5. Step 5

Decide if you wish to play the three card poker feature, and place your bet if you do. It isn't required that you play because the game can be played like regular blackjack. If you choose to play the additional feature, you must never bet more on the three card poker bet than you do on your blackjack bet. Also the maximum for the three card poker is usually less, so make certain you don't go over the maximum.

Tips & Warnings
  • Play minimum until you understand the game.
  • Remember that the bet pays 9 to 1, so if you win on a $15 bet you should get $135 from the dealer. Dealers are frequently moved from one type of a game to another and sometimes they make multiplication or payout errors. Always check.
  • If you can get on a hand shuffle table, not machine shuffle, you will find that there are streaks where you are consistently hitting. Raise your bet if you see the streak. Try adding a few extra chips after you get one three card poker win, to see if another win is right behind it.
