FreelanceWriting.com is an online resource for writers and editors looking for freelance work. There are not only jobs posted on the site, but also links to discussion forums, writing events and writing contests. Instructions

1. Start on the Freelancewriting.com homepage. To the left side of the page, there is a list of all of the sections found on the site. Locate "Writing Contests" on this list and click on it.

2. Choose the type of writing contest that you are interested in. There are listings of basic writing contests, special writing contests, announcements, literary awards and a link to the monthly newsletter that highlights certain writing contests.

3. Look through the listings to find contests that you are interested in. You'll see a short description of each writing contest as well as the deadline and prize amount.

4. Click on the names of the contests that you want to enter to get more details about the contest and the fee to enter.

5. Hit the "Contest Website" option at the bottom of the details page. This link leads you to the homepage of the contest. From most contest websites, you can electronically send in your submission.

Tips & Warnings

• You should expect to pay an entry fee for most contests found on the FreelanceWriting.com website. Free contests are usually not legitimate.
