In today's world, there are many different frauds and scams. It is very important that people know how to identify and stop fraud. Fraud is when something is offered that is not true. It is a lie. It is something that can really hurt someone financially, morally and in many other ways.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Step1
Recognize that if it is too good to be true, it probably is. Jobs offering a lot of money for little work, receiving large, expensive gifts for no effort and things that are hard to believe are usually frauds or scams.
Step2
Think before acting. A job that offers you a lot of money for little work or tries to get you to make a decision on the spot is probably a fraud.
Step3
Ask for information in writing. Any organization or person that will not give you information in writing is likely a fraud or a scam. Many frauds or scams will not offer information in writing because it costs them money and leaves evidence.
Step4
Refuse to give your credit card number for identification or verification purposes.

Tips & Warnings

  • Report all suspicious scams or frauds to the appropriate authorities. Do not wait to report a scam. Take all proof and documentation to the proper authorities when reporting the scam or fraud.
  • Watch out for scams and frauds on the Internet. There are many fraudulent sites on the World Wide Web.
