The Ultrametabolism Diet is a healthy eating plan developed by a medical doctor and researcher by the name of Mark Hyman. He worked for 10 years at the Canyon River health resort and formulated this diet to help people achieve their weight loss goals in a healthy manner.

  1. Step 1

    Figure out your trouble zones. You take several quizzes in the Ultrametabolism Diet handbook. Your answers to the questions help you formulate a personalized eating and fitness plan.

  2. Step 2

    Follow the three hour rule. Dieters should eat every three hours throughout the day, but stop eating within three hours of your bedtime.

  3. Step 3

    Expect to diet in three phases. The first phase is a weeklong preparation that helps you eliminate the bad foods from your diet. The second phase is a three week detox phase that eliminates even more foods, including common allergens. The final phase is the maintenance phase.

  4. Step 4

    Eat whole and organic foods. The basis of the diet is that you need to consume more natural foods in order to lose weight. Beans, brussels sprouts, cauliflower, soy milk, and fish are all foods found on the Ultrametabolism Diet menu.

  5. Step 5

    Perform weight training. Weight and interval training should be completed while following the diet. These types of exercise boost your metabolism.

  • Hyman estimates that by following his diet, you can lose 10 to 20 pounds in eight weeks.
  • You are permitted to eat up to 2 ounces of dark chocolate a day on the Ultrametabolism Diet.
