Step 1
Find an excursion company that offers whale watching tours. Find information at local chamber of commerce's or online.

Find out which type of whale is viewable in the season you will be traveling. Take a tour any time of the year with most whale watching excursions.

Make reservations well in advance. Plan holiday and weekend excursions, especially during the summertime, a few months ahead of time.

Arrive at the departure place for the tour at least a half an hour before your scheduled tour. Find out information about parking accommodations prior to your arrival at the pier.

Dress in warm layers of clothing. Wear an outer layer that is waterproof.

Bring a sack lunch, snacks and water. Bring enough food to last the entire length of your excursion. Excursions usually last four to five hours.

Purchase motion sickness tablets before the trip. Take motion sickness medicine a half an hour before the whale watching trip begins.
