3. Tour the fencing club. Set up an appointment for a free tour to look around the fencing club before deciding to join. Pay close attention to detail and make notes either during or shortly after the tour.

4. View the fencing club's record with the Better Business Bureau and read any and all comments or disputes that the fencing club has before you join.

5. Purchase all necessary gear and equipment for fencing, if you don't already own it. Inquire about discounts on equipment purchases for club members.

6. Decide which fencing club to join. Get membership paperwork, pay fees, if applicable, and attend regularly.
