Fencing is a favorite pastime for many people. Fencing has been around since the time of monarchs. This sport requires strength and agility, whether a novice or a professional. If you wish become better at the sport, read on to learn how to join a fencing club.

  1. Step 1

    Search online for a fencing club to join. Look up "fencing club" in the local telephone book. Contact recreational centers in the surrounding area and ask friends and family.

  2. Step 2

    Call the fencing clubs and ask them questions about joining. Find out if membership costs and how much, what membership entails, what is needed to join (such as equipment) and how many members actively participate in the club.

  3. Step 3

    Tour the fencing club. Set up an appointment for a free tour to look around the fencing club before deciding to join. Pay close attention to detail and make notes either during or shortly after the tour.

  4. Step 4

    View the fencing club's record with the Better Business Bureau and read any and all comments or disputes that the fencing club has before you join.

  5. Step 5

    Purchase all necessary gear and equipment for fencing, if you don't already own it. Inquire about discounts on equipment purchases for club members.

  6. Step 6

    Decide which fencing club to join. Get membership paperwork, pay fees, if applicable, and attend regularly.
