Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Things You’ll Need:
- Comfrey
- Psyllium
- Witch hazel
- Aloe vera
- Butcher's broom
- Horse chestnut
Step1
Moisten powdered comfrey with vegetable oil and apply as a paste. Comfrey stimulates the immune system, speeds the formation of new skin and is rich in allantoin, a wound-healing substance.
Step2
Take psyllium internally in capsule form or mixed with water to ease bowel movements, resulting in less pain, itching, bleeding and discomfort.
Step3
Wipe with a cotton pad soaked in witch hazel. Witch hazel is the active ingredient in many over the counter hemorrhoid treatments. It is a cooling, soothing astringent that helps relieve pain and itching.
Step4
Take aloe internally as a stool softener, and apply it directly to the hemorrhoids. Purchase powdered aloe for internal use from a health food store and use as directed. Use bottled aloe vera gel or break open a leaf from an aloe vera plant to apply externally.
Step5
Drink butcher's broom tea, sweetened to taste with honey. Butcher's broom has strong anti-inflammatory and vasoconstricting properties.
Step6
Moisten powdered horse chestnut and apply it to the hemorrhoids directly. Substances found in this tree bark strengthen the blood vessel walls and are anti-inflammatory. Do not take it orally, as the tannins can contribute to constipation.
