Rate: (3 Ratings)

Meth is one of the most common illegal drugs used today. Kids are vulnerable to drug abusers and dealers of meth because it is easy and inexpensive to obtain. Kids need to know the dangers of meth use and warning signs that others may be using it. Follow these steps to teach kids about meth.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Talk to your kids about everything, not just drugs. Kids are most likely to divulge important information about other kids or their parents in casual conversation.
Step2
Tell your kids about how they may be approached to purchase or use meth. Teach them refusal skills and peer-pressure resisting skills.
Step3
Let your kids know what meth can do to them. Tell them how addicting it is and how it can wreck their bodies. Show them pictures of meth users in books or online.
Step4
Describe the different forms of meth. Tell them how it comes in different colors and how it can be injected, snorted, smoked or swallowed.
Step5
Advise them to say "no" to all drugs. Explain that sometimes they don't know what they're getting and may end up with a more dangerous drug.
Step6
Familiarize your kids with areas where meth users may hang out and what they may look like. Make sure they are not caught off guard when they are approached to try meth.

Tips & Warnings

  • Make your kids aware that meth is often manufactured in homes since the ingredients are readily available. Let them know the signs of meth manufacturing so they can stay away from homes where this may be taking place.
