Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Identify the subjects that you plan to teach your child. Certain states have different requirements. Math and English are the basics. You may want to add science, history, a foreign language or other subjects that interest your child.

  2. Step 2

Acquire your teaching material. If you are using commercial homeschool curriculum, they often have student and teaching books available.

  3. Step 3

Break down your subject material within your school year. Once you have gotten your school material, break it down into manageable chunks. This can be by semester, month, week or by the day.

  4. Step 4

Locate additional resources. Resources are located in many places. The library, the Internet and even interviewing your neighbor next door are great resources.

  5. Step 5

Write up your lesson plan. Once you have your subject broken down in manageable chunks, break it down into daily lessons.

  6. Step 6

Give your homeschool lessons. This is the fun part. The lesson should be fun and draw your child's attention. Go over any questions your child may have. Do further research for anything that may come up during the lessons.

  7. Step 7

Make follow up notes on your lesson plans. This is especially useful if you have more than one child. Your notes will help the next time you teach the lesson.

Tips & Warnings
  • Homeschooling is meant to be flexible. If an opportunity presents itself, your lesson plans can be changed and adjusted.
