2. Purchase cheap movie tickets through your employer. Some companies make corporate arrangements with movie theaters to sell cheaper tickets to their employees.

3. Arrange a corporate account with a major movie theater for yourself if you are self-employed. You may have to purchase the tickets in batches of 25, but you will save money. If you are a movie lover and go to the movie often, it is a worthwhile expenditure.

4. Check your affiliations with banks, credit unions, associations, clubs, unions and schools. Ask if they have a discount movie ticket program and find out how you can be a part of that program.

• Most movie tickets cost in the $8 to $11 range for adults, with kids 11 or 12 and under costing roughly half that. For a family of four, going to the movies can be expensive.
