Things You’ll Need:

  • Salvaged tin ceiling tiles
  • Sand paper
  • Rust remover
  • Drill
  • Ruler
  • Pencil
  • Clock hand kit
  • Battery
Step1
Purchase salvaged tin tiles from antique dealers, salvage tin dealers or online auctions. Look at pictures of tiles or see them in person before buying.
Step2
Clean the tile with a soft damp cloth. Wipe the clock dry.
Step3
Remove any rust, if desired, with a rust remover. Follow the manufacturer instructions.
Step4
Lightly sand any rough edges. Sand off any loose or flaking paint.
Step5
Find the center of the tile. Draw a line, using a pencil, through the center of the clock from corner to opposite corner on all four corners. Mark the center. Erase pencil lines.
Step6
Drill a hole in the center of the clock on the mark. Sand any rough edges.
Step7
Install clock hands according to manufacturer instructions. Put a battery in the back of the clock.

Tips & Warnings

  • Use a paint pen to draw the numbers 3, 6, 9 and 12 on the clock.
  • Paint the clock to match the colors in your decor.
  • Use caution when handling tin with rough edges. See a physician if you are cut by the tin.
