Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Vinyl sign kit
  • Scratch paper
  • Scissors
  • Pencil
  • Ruler
  1. Step 1

Buy a vinyl sign kit from an office or school supply store or search the Internet for a retailer.

  2. Step 2

Decide what you want your vinyl sign to say and how you want it to look.

  3. Step 3

Draw a picture of your sign on a piece of paper. Keep the picture on hand as a template.

  4. Step 4

Cut a sheet of the vinyl to the shape and size you want.

  5. Step 5

Use a pencil and ruler to lightly draw lines on the vinyl sheet where the lettering will go.

  6. Step 6

Pick out the letters in the desired colors to match your template.

  7. Step 7

Peel the self-sticking letters from their backing carefully and place them on the vinyl sheet. Press down firmly when they are in place.

  8. Step 8

Add graphics and border lines as desired to complete your vinyl sign. Use the items included in the kit or make your own from the leftover self-stick vinyl scraps.

Tips & Warnings
  • Use a magnetic sign kit to display a sign on your car or another metal object.
  • Wear cloth gloves if you are, or think you might be, allergic to vinyl.
