So you spotted a retired Vera Bradley bag that you absolutely must have, but where are you to find one now? Perhaps you are dying to add a Vera bag to your wardrobe, but just don't have the funds for a brand-spanking-new one. Or maybe you simply want to have a variety of Vera bags to choose from, but want to do it on a budget. Here are some suggestions for buying a used Vera Bradley purse.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Take it to the Web. Internet auction sites, like eBay, are full of used Vera bags. To be sure you are getting an authentic bag, only bid on bags that show a picture of the "Vera Bradley" signature. Remember that the bags can be washed, so if they look a little worn in the photos, a good spin in the washing machine should bring them back to life.

  2. Step 2

Check local boards. Just do a Google search for "Used Vera Bradley bags" and you will see dozens of Craigslist postings from across the country. It is like shopping at an online yard sale, only without the dusty antiques and awkward stares, plus you get to head straight for the item you want. Search under "Clothes and Accessories" as well as "Collectibles."

  3. Step 3

Look in the Yellow Pages for consignment shops in your area. Some women regularly take their clothes and accessories to consignment shops, especially if they are good quality items. You can expect to pay according to the condition and status (retired or not) of the bag.

  4. Step 4

Join a Vera Bradley message board. Do a Google search for this topic and look for messages advertising bags for sale. These forums are a great way for women to sell their precious bags to loving owners and for those wanting a good bargain on a new piece to swoop in and make a deal.

  5. Step 5

Start a bag swap. Get your girlfriends and local Vera lovers together once a year for a bag exchange. Everyone brings their gently used bags and either sells them to other group members or exchanges them with someone else's cast-offs.
