Babies grow fast and soon you have a toddler with an endless stack of clothes that don't fit. Then suddenly your storage spaces are overflowing with old clothes. It may be hard, but you will keep your sanity by getting rid of those old baby clothes. Read on to learn how to get rid of baby clothes.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Decide when you will be finished having children. Get rid of baby's clothes only when you're sure there won't be another addition to your family.

  2. Step 2

Donate the clothes. There are numerous organizations like the Salvation Army and Goodwill that accept clothing donations. The organization then sells the garments at significantly reduced prices to those who can't afford new baby clothes.

  3. Step 3

Have a garage sale. Even at $0.50 per onesie you might be surprised by how much money you'll earn. Add all the old toys and maybe some furniture to the mix and you'll have a successful event.

  4. Step 4

Give the clothes to a friend. The expense of a new baby can be a burden, but you can help your friend offset the costs by your gift of a full wardrobe.

  5. Step 5

Sell the baby clothes to a second-hand store. Find a store that specializes in baby clothes and you'll have better luck with the sale.

Tips & Warnings
  • All of the above refer to baby clothes in good condition. Don't try to give away or sell anything with stains or holes. Wash everything thoroughly before donating.
  • Always get a receipt for any items you donate. Donated items are tax deductible.
  • Give yourself some time before you get rid of any baby clothes. Use an objective eye to thoroughly purge baby's closet. After six months or more you'll be able to identify what to keep and what to discard. Don't let go of anything you still feel sentimental about, but realize there is more to a milestone than the clothing your baby wore at the time.
  • Never just give your baby's clothes to your friends without asking if they would like the items.
