1
Go to the Skybus website. In the "From" field, click on the down arrow to reveal the drop-down menu of participating Skybus airports. Note that the airports are limited and are located in locations that are within driving distance of bigger airports. The key to flying Skybus is being flexible.
-
2
Choose your departure and arrival cities. Skybus is based in Columbus, Ohio and only carries flights to and from Columbus. For instance, you can fly from Columbus to Richmond, Virginia (and vice versa) and you can also fly from Columbus to Greensboro, North Carolina (and vice versa), but you cannot fly from Richmond to Greensboro. All flights must involve Columbus.

3
Use the website's calendars to search by price. If your dates or destinations are flexible, simply plug in a date range and then use the calendars to view the prices one month at a time. The calendars show the entire month and the price for departures as well as returns (in separate calendars) so you can easily spot the best deal.
-
4
Be aware of the bargains. The Skybus allure is that the company guarantees each flight to have ten $10 tickets. This fare is one-way, so if you are lucky enough to find a $10 ticket there and back, you're looking at a $20 ticket (plus taxes and fees).

5
Select your departure and return dates. Click on the date for both legs of the trip. Note that there is a separate calendar for each leg. The return-flight calendar does not automatically update to the month selected in the departure date, so be sure to adjust it accordingly. Once you've selected both dates, click on the bubble next to the flight time you prefer. Many dates only carry one flight (and the times are usually early morning or evening), but you still need to click the bubble. If you don't, an error message pops up alerting you of the problem.

6
Proceed to checkout. At the bottom of the calendar page, click on "Select and Continue." Follow the prompts, which include double checking all dates, times and airports.
