How to Find a Pet Cemetery

Finding a resting place for your pet is easy if you know where to look. Unlike regular memorial parks that spend thousands of dollars on advertising, pet cemeteries usually spread through referral or word of mouth. Find the perfect burial site for your pet by reading the list below.

1. Locate a pet cemetery in your state. Visit nepanetwork.com where you can search cemeteries by state or contact the International Association for Pet Cemeteries and inquire about pet cemetery listings in your area (see Resources below).
2. Call a local funeral home, cemetery or crematorium service. Such establishments deal exclusively with death care services and should be able to provide referrals for pet cemeteries near you. Furthermore, a growing number of funeral homes deal predominantly with pet burials. Inquire as to which mortuaries provide such services.
3. Contact an animal hospital or veterinary clinic. These business frequently handle animal remains and should be a good resource regarding pet cemeteries. In addition, they may be able to prepare the remains (usually through cremation) in a cost effective manner.

5. Find a virtual pet cemetery. Sites such as mycemetery.com provide a place online to memorialize your deceased pet (see Resources below). In addition, owners may add favorite stories and memories to commemorate their lost friend.
