Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Create your windows. A window in a tree house is generally a hole cut in a sheet of plywood; but is it a circle or a rectangle? And do you want to use molding to create sturdier windows?
Step2
Add a sign. The campy classic is a trite, misspelled slogan like "No Gurls" or "Keep Out, No Trespasing," something that was, in the old days, penned by pre-adolescents. Your sign could be more welcoming and better spelled, according to the taste of the tree house "inner circle".
Step3
Add ladders. Besides being a style choice, the ladder is functional. How will you get up to the house without a ladder? Choose whether you want a rope ladder (luxury feature) or just a set of planks nailed to the tree trunk for visitors to crawl up on. A rope ladder can also be lowered or raised at will, depending on how it's attached.
Step4
Decorate your tree house for comfort. A good soft cushion would make your tree house a better rest area. Furniture will have to be somewhat weather-resistant, but in the context of good planning, it doesn't have to be waterproof.
Step5
Decorate your tree house for safety. This really should have come at the beginning, as it's the most important step of all. A deck for your tree house would be swell, but not without a fence. Consider the safety of children in all aspects of planning your tree house, including windows, ladders, etc.
