Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Encourage teens to have their own interests and dreams. Take the time to listen to the teens you know. Find out what makes them excited and what makes their eyes light up. Help them build these interests into an attainable dream.
Step2
Believe in them. Praise them. You want to build their self-confidence. Teens that lack a dream may be overwhelmed with life and unable to motivate themselves. Show them what they are good and build their self-esteem. When they believe in themselves, they'll be inspired to try new things.
Step3
Give them choices so they feel empowered. With parents and teachers telling them what to do, they may feel powerless in their own lives. Let them make some of the decisions about their lives and they will feel empowered and inspired.
Step4
Set a goal. Help teens set small attainable goals. Make the goals fun. Teach them to enjoy the little progresses along the way. Attaining goals makes people feel proud and gives them the courage to try new things.
Step5
Help them make decisions. Teens want independence but that doesn't mean they want to decide everything for themselves. Stay connected to your teens and help them when they need you. Teach them problem solving and brainstorming techniques along the way.
Step6
Encourage creativity. Sometimes we all get caught up in the fast paced world we live in. Take the time to enjoy the spiritual and creative aspects of your life. Teach teens to live in the moment and get excited about something.
Step7
Discuss some inspirational people you know. It could be someone in your own family, someone famous or a child prodigy like classical singer Charlotte Church or teen writer Amelia Atwater-Rhodes.
