How to Clean a Pacifier
It's always the same story: your child hasn't needed her pacifier all day and at the split second she's ready, the binky hits the floor or that one dirty spot on the couch. Whatever the case, you won't be able to use the pacifier until it's clean.

1
Sterilize pacifiers in boiling water. Drop them in the water and leave there for five minutes.
-
2
Clean pacifiers in the dishwasher-if they're dishwasher safe. Put them on the top rack when you run the dishwasher and you'll quickly have a clean set of pacifiers.
-
3
Wash pacifiers in the kitchen sink. Run a small amount of warm water and add soap. Clean the pacifier and rinse thoroughly to remove all soap.
-
4
Buy the Keep-It-Clean Pacifier. This pacifier has a cap that closes automatically when it leaves your baby's mouth. You'll never again worry about the pacifier landing on the floor.

Keep a spare handy. No matter what cleaning method you use, babies find a way to dirty their pacifiers before you know it. Keep a clean one on hand at all times to be prepared.

Tips & Warnings
It is only necessary to clean pacifiers in boiling water the first time you use them. Open the package and sterilize the pacifiers immediately; that way it's done. Let them cool completely before you give them to your child.
Use the sanitizing option on your dishwasher if you have it, if not, don't worry-- the pacifiers will still come clean.
Never clean a pacifier by putting it in your mouth, no matter how great the temptation. You could transfer your germs to your baby.
After cleaning a pacifier always check the nipple. If it is discolored, sticky or weak in any areas, throw it out. The nipple can come apart and pose a choking hazard to your baby.
