Instructions

    • 1

Decide on the style of Christmas carols that your caroling group is going to sing. Traditional religious carols could include "O Holy Night," "Joy to the World" or "Silent Night."

    • 2

Choose secular Christmas carols such as "We Wish You a Merry Christmas," "I'll Be Home For Christmas," "Jingle Bells" and "Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow" if your group is not church affiliated.

    • 3

Sing Christmas carols that appeal to children if you know there are going to be kids either singing with the group or listening to the carols. These songs might include "Frosty the Snowman," "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer," "Santa Claus is Coming to Town" and "Up on the Housetop."

    • 4

Pick Christmas carols that would work well for a barbershop quartet style group. Some good examples of this type of song include "We Need a Little Christmas," "Sleigh Ride," "Silver Bells" and "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree." Your group can sing barbershop style regardless of the number of carolers. Simply have more than one person sing bass, baritone, tenor and alto and throw in some harmonies.

    • 5

Determine whether you want to sing some comical Christmas carols to include "Grandma Got Run Over By a Reindeer," "All I Want For Christmas is My Two Front Teeth" and "I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus." These go over well with children as well.

Tips & Warnings

  • Pick Christmas carols for your caroling group that appeal to as many members as possible. You may want to have a vote, with majority rules, to please as many carolers as possible.

  • Have cookies and hot chocolate waiting at home for your caroling group.

  • Once you have picked the carols and set a date and time for caroling, don't change the date. It will be too difficult to reconvene with all members of the caroling group.
