How to Stop Drunk Dialing

When you're out with your friends and you've had more than a few drinks, resisting the urge to drunk dial your latest love interest, your ex or your friends can be tough. Regret inevitably follows the next morning as you remember all of the embarrassing calls you made in your drunken stupor.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Step1
Control your drinking. If you're drinking so much that you're drunk dialing every night and stirring up conflicts with everyone in your contact list, consider toning it down a bit. Having less to drink when you go out helps you make better judgment calls at the end of the night, which ultimately means making no calls at all.
Step2
Give your phone to a trusted friend who won't give in to your pleas of desperation throughout the night. This way your phone is close by if you need to make a legitimate call, but your friend will be the judge of that. Let her keep the phone until the next morning if possible.
Step3
Delete certain numbers from your contact list before you go out, and write them down to leave at home in a safe place if you prefer to keep your phone with you. Key numbers to delete are: anyone who you are mad at, your significant other, your ex and any unwilling soul who frequently finds himself on the other end of your drunken phone calls.
Step4
Leave your phone at home in extreme cases of no self control. Hide it in a place where you won't search for it when you stumble home at the end of the night.

Tips & Warnings

  • Don't give your phone to just any friend. The holder of your phone must be responsible enough to not lose your phone, and she must understand the ramifications that drunk dialing has had on your life.
