How to Visit Truman State University

Ranked #1 by "U.S. News and World Report" magazine in the Master's category, Truman State University is Missouri's designated liberal arts institution. Truman State University offers a competitive, high-quality education for a reasonable cost. The entire faculty of Truman practices an open-door policy that allows their students to interact with them easily. Many Truman undergraduate students are participants in research that they would normally not encounter until graduate school.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Plan your visit to Truman State University early in your junior year, if possible. Visit during the school week so you can visit classes in session. Make the arrangements for your visit online, or call the admissions office.

  2. Step 2

    Study the map of campus to know how to get to the admissions office in McClain Hall. Also, know where to park on the day of your visit.

  3. Step 3

    Come prepared with a notebook. Bring your camera as well. Arrive early, and prepare to ask questions.

  4. Step 4

    Take the guided tour. Eat lunch in one of the dorms or in the Student Union. Visit with students as well as professors.

  5. Step 5

    Go off on your own tour. Visit a class in session in your intended major. Wander through Pickler Library. Sit in on a rehearsal in Baldwin Hall or Ophelia Parrish. Visit a sports practice in Pershing Arena. Find one of the many student activities that take place on campus at any given time and participate.

  • Truman State University is located in Kirksville, Missouri, a town of 17,000 in the rural northeast. If you intend to go to school at Truman State University, also spend some time in the Kirksville community.
