How to Tour the University of Waterloo, Canada

Visit one of Canada's top universities, the University of Waterloo, located in Waterloo, Ontario Canada. With its many buildings and beautiful landscape, the University of Waterloo looks like a small village amidst weeping willow trees and vast greenery. Follow these tips and take a tour.

        Get an online map of the campus at uwaterloo.ca, the university's main website, to get a map and/or directions to the main campus. Bus, train, airplane and taxi information is also available on their site. You can also get directions to their architectural campus in nearby Cambridge.

        Call ahead to get a guided tour by one of the university's tour guides. Check findoutmore.uwaterloo.ca for contact information. You can call or email. Guided tours are about 2 hours long.

        Plan your trip during the week so that all the buildings are open including the visitor's centre. Call ahead or check out the website for the university. Bring money for parking.

        Stop at the Visitor's Centre for a guide and map of the university when you arrive on campus. You can get answers to your questions here.

        Start with main buildings like the lecture halls, library, South Campus Hall, Health Services, Needles Hall and the residences. Then visit the faculties of your choice. Faculties include: Applied Health Sciences, Arts, Engineering, Environmental Studies, Math and Science.

        Visit in late July when they are showing the campus to new students. Tours are available from January to July each year. They also have several open houses throughout the year. Go with someone who knows the school if you are not taking a tour.

        Take a virtual tour at virtualtour.uwaterloo.ca. Click the spots on the campus map that you want to see. A real-life photo pops up with a description of the building.
