2. Research your market. Find out what type of writing is needed. Researching will help you find out where you can make the most money.
3. Join a local business organization so you can meet other business owners. Business organizations are a great place to network.
4. Dedicate an area of your home for business purposes. You want somewhere you can work uninterrupted. You may also be able to claim this area as a tax write off. Check with your local business association or tax office.
5. Buy a computer and get Internet access. You can find a lot of freelance work online. You want a good word processor. A scanner can be helpful as well.
6. Market yourself as a small business. Create a business name. Make business cards and hand them out around town. Add your business name to your email signature so you reach even more people.
7. Join an online freelance writing group or a small business group. You can share ideas with other people and gain from their experience.
