Family dinners can be a lot of fun if you take the food outdoors. Have a backyard barbeque for your spouse and kids or invite your extended family to join in the fun.

From Quick Guide: Family Dinners
Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Food for barbequing
  • Plastic cutlery
  • Condiments
  • Lawn chairs and blankets
  • Towels
  • Drinks
  • Coolers
  1. Step 1

Have everyone bring something. Turn your family barbeque into a potluck event and try everyone's favorite outdoor dishes.

  2. Step 2

Supply the meat since you are hosting the barbeque. You can have hotdogs, hamburgers or kebabs. You might want to cook steak or chicken if you only have a few guests.

  3. Step 3

Buy plastic knives, forks and spoons. Supply cups and serviettes. Make sure you have condiments for the hamburgers and hotdogs.

  4. Step 4

Pick a date that everyone agrees on. Have a back up plan in case it rains. You may need an alternate date. If that's not possible, you might want to set up a tent in the yard. Make sure there is a bathroom nearby.

  5. Step 5

Ask everyone to bring lawn chairs and blankets. Ask them to they bring their own towels if you have a pool or are planning any water activities.

  6. Step 6

Make sure you have somewhere for food that needs refrigeration. If you're at a park or camp ground, make sure there are enough coolers to keep the food cool. You don't want anyone getting sick from bad food. Keep the drinks in coolers filled with ice.

  7. Step 7

Plan outdoor activities to keep everyone busy. You can play games or have crafts.

Tips & Warnings
  • Precook sausages and heat them up on the barbeque.
  • Throw out any food that has been sitting out too long.
  • Cook your meat thoroughly before serving.
