Serve appetizers and drinks. You don't need to serve a heavy meal since the party will start in the evening about an hour before the show. Instead spend your money on a few appetizers, wine, beer and mixed drinks.

Enlist the kids as paparazzi. Keep the kids occupied at the Emmy party by letting them take pictures of the guests.
