When throwing a New Year's party, choose foods that reflect the festive nature of the night. The food available at a party can make or break the event. Most of your energies should be focused on picking the appropriate drinks and appetizers to serve.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Set out a cheese tray. A fruit and cheese display is an easy to make menu option for a New Year's party. Choose fresh fruits like grapes, strawberries and melon. Set out several different cheeses like cheddar and blue cheese.

  2. Step 2

Make skewers, an easy and delicious hand held food. Grill chicken, pork, or beef and place the meat alongside various grilled vegetables.

  3. Step 3

Provide an assortment dips for partygoers. You can serve a nacho dip as well as a dip that can be used for vegetables and chips. To save time, purchase dips instead of making them yourself.

  4. Step 4

Serve bruschetta. It is easy to make and can be topped with various appetizing selections.

  5. Step 5

Pick foods and drinks that complement each other. Choose a selection of wines that go well with the appetizers you are serving.

Tips & Warnings
  • Remember to keep the menu light and avoid serving too many heavy dishes. Most people will be drinking a lot and won't want filling entrees.
  • Don't forget to have a selection of desserts at your New Year's party. Cupcakes are always fun to serve.
