Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Get informed. Start by visiting the website for the Alliance for Marriage (AFM). In particular, the AFM Foundation's Marriage Protection Caucus has information about efforts to support traditional marriage in all fifty states. The more you know about the issue, the more effectively you can promote your views.
Step2
Sign petitions in support of the federal marriage amendment and local measures in your state.
Step3
Share your views with those around you. People that agree with you might be afraid to share their opinions. Once you find each other you can work together to support traditional marriage.
Step4
Write to your state and federal legislators. You can also write timely letters to the editor of local newspapers. Publicly sharing your views will be the most powerful, but make sure you don't write when you are overly emotional.
Step5
Volunteer your time to support traditional marriage. You may be able to collect signatures, mail out information or organize outreach efforts.
Step6
Donate money to support organizations that are leading the efforts to protect traditional marriage. You can also give money to politicians who share your views on traditional marriage.
