Use these steps to find out how to apply for a study abroad internship.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Check with the study abroad internship department at your college or university. If you are already a student, this is a great way to go. The school has already established contacts in the desired country and you will not lose any credits in the transferring back and forth.

  2. Step 2

Research study abroad programs, like those listed at studyabroad.com, if you don't have access through your school or you are not a current student. These databases offer internship information based on a number of variables, making it easy for you to find exactly what you are interested in.

  3. Step 3

Talk to you pastor at church. Many youth go on missions or faith-based internships to other countries. This is also a good safe way to go about moving abroad, as the church will have contacts in other countries.

  4. Step 4

Contact the local branch of your favorite charity. Many times groups of students or people are sent overseas to help in other areas of the world for a specific cause. These are usually safe as well.

Tips & Warnings
  • Make sure to go through a reputable source, so you know the journey and experience will be a safe one. Do not travel to countries that are in a state of war or may be dangerous to Americans.
  • Have all of the necessary paperwork (such as passports) done well in advance to avoid any delays in the approval and travel process.
