Entertaining kids is an easy task. Something that seems simple to an adult can amuse a child for hours. Playing with kids outdoors offers fresh air and fun--and there's no need to spend any money. So follow these steps to get outside, take in some sun and entertain the kids for free.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Ride bikes on a trail with your kids. This is a great way to entertain kids, keep them in shape and teach them about nature. Point out certain birds and trees along the way, telling your kids the name of each one. Then if they see the bird or tree again, have them tell you its name.

  2. Step 2

Draw pictures on the sidewalk with chalk. Make a family portrait, play Tic Tac Toe, or draw a hopscotch pattern, grab a rock and play a game of hopscotch with the kids.

  3. Step 3

Take the kids to a playground. Let them run around and expend their energy. Not only do the kids have fun, but the activity helps them fall asleep early, too.

  4. Step 4

Lie down and look at the clouds. See what pictures you can make out of the clouds. This is a great way to bond with kids and to create memories of cloud watching that will last them a lifetime.

  5. Step 5

Turn on the sprinklers and let the kids run around in their bathing suits. It's a great, safe way to entertain the kids outdoors on a warm day.
