Although the dot com bubble burst in the late 90s, there are more ways than ever to earn money online utilizing your writing skills. Some opportunities require knowledge of a specific niche, but others require nothing more than a reliable Internet connection and a few hours a week. Find a fit amongst these choices and say goodbye to cubicles and long commutes.

  1. Step 1

Protect yourself from scams. If you are breaking into the writing market for the first time, you must beware of jobs that sound too good to be true, because they probably are. The Writers Weekly website lists a "whispers and warnings" section that identifies scam artists.

  2. Step 2

Check the Writer's Market online to find a market for your writing niche, whether it's nonfiction, short stories, children's literature or web content. The Writer's Market lists editors that accept emailed submissions.

  3. Step 3

Get paid to blog. You can monetize your blog by allowing companies such as Google to post ads on your website. You can also apply to a paying blog website such as Creative Weblogging to write about topics that you are passionate about.

  4. Step 4

Open your mind to the possibilities of literary ezines. Publications that exist solely online are every bit as prestigious as their print counterparts are. Literary ezines such as Fiction Warehouse warmly welcome new writers.

  5. Step 5

Write and publish your own ezine. Magazine publishing is no longer limited to the rarefied atmosphere of Rupert Murdoch and his ilk. Ezine publishing centers allow you to create and distribute your content with affordable templates.

on 1/19/2009 Bukisa allows users to share their knowledge with videos, podcasts, or text, and be entitled to a share from the profits the ads placed on their articles generate. Users get to make money from how much they know. Just think of it like Wikipedia with benefits. Another great thing about the site is, that if you bring in some of your friends to start sharing content, you’ll get a cut from the revenue generated from ads on their articles too (and your friends’ friends too). Visit http://www.bukisa.com/join/4182 to join.
