Find a Tap Class for Children

Step1
Talk to the teachers at the dance studios in your local community. Tap dance classes start in the early fall or when the new school year begins. Most dance studios will offer classes in a variety of age groups and skill levels. There is often a recital at the end of the performing year in which your child will be performing.
Step2
Visit your community parks and recreation centers. These centers post class and course schedules several times a year. These are usually classes with a 3- or 4-month commitment.
Step3
Get information about summer dance camps. This information can be found by researching online or the Internet for a variety of camps across the country. Some dance camps specialize in tap only classes. Be sure to verify the ages of the children attending the camps and ask for references.

Find a Tap Class for Adults

Step1
Talk to the teachers at the dance studio where your child takes dance. Many dance studios offer classes for adults that are geared more for fun and group activities. You might even end up in the same dance recital as your child.
Step2
Visit your community parks and recreation centers. There may be classes designed just for adults at a variety of skill levels.
Step3
Check out the continuing education programs at your community colleges. Many offer tap classes for adults, men, women and seniors. These are great classes to take and you'll end up with a certificate of completion for continuing education to show your kids.
Step4
Look for an adult tap studio in your local phonebook. There are many of these type of dance studios in larger cities. These classes often have performances throughout the local community at fairs, parades, senior centers and schools. It's a great way to meet people, have fun and get some exercise at the same time.
Step5
Enquire about classes at the senior citizens center in your community.
