The River Thames, arguably Britain's most famous river, runs 215 miles from the village of Kemble, in the Cotswolds, to the North Sea. En route, it passes through Oxford, Windsor, Eton, London and Kew. Once a major source of transportation, many of England's major sights sit along the Thames, including the Tower of London, Windsor Castle, Hampton Court and Kew Gardens.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Step1
Get out on the River. A wide variety of watercraft—canoes, sailboats, kayaks and sightseeing cruises—ply the River Thames. Follow the river and see the sights from a unique point of view. Or, test your skill against some of Britain's most capable punters.
Step2
See the view from a bridge. Several of Britain's notable and distinctive bridges span the River Thames. Among these are Tower Bridge and Westminster Bridge in London, Windsor Bridge and Marlow Bridge.
Step3
Go Fishing. Outside of London, the River Thames offers some excellent fishing spots. Get started by purchasing a rod license, available either online or at a British post office. Make sure to fish from public property or to ask permission of the property owner.
Step4
Dine near the river. The River Thames is lined with restaurants, cafes, pubs and wine bars, in all price ranges. Enjoy the lovely view while enjoying a pint, a meal or a glass of wine.
Step5
Walk along the Thames. The River Thames is easily accessible in London and throughout the countryside. Many parts of the river are lined with pathways and there's always something new to see around the next bend.
