Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Begin your day early at the Niagara Falls State Park Visitor Center. The center opens at 6 a.m. in the summer and 8 a.m. during the winter months. Eat breakfast at one of the local restaurants and pick up some maps to get an overview of the falls.
Step2
Ride on the vintage trolley that runs through Niagara Falls State Park. A guide provides information about the park as you tour. This half-hour tour gives a good overview of the park.
Step3
Take one of the two glass elevators to the top of the Observation Tower. Enjoy views of the falls from above. The trip up is free if you purchase a Maid of the Mist ticket.
Step4
Board the Maid of the Mist boat, at the base of the Observation Tower. This ride takes you to the basin of the American Falls and Horseshoe Falls. Be sure to use the poncho provided. There are no guarantees that you will not get wet on this half-hour tour.
Step5
Learn more about the history of the falls as you watch, "Niagara: Legends of Adventure," in the Adventure Theater, which is located on the lower level of the Visitor Center.
Step6
Cross the Rainbow Bridge into Canada. Go up to the observation deck of Skylon Tower. Enjoy lunch or dinner in the Revolving Dining Room or the Summit Suite Dining Room.
Step7
Enjoy The Journey Behind the Falls, which takes you down behind the basin of the Horseshoe Falls. The entry point is located at Table Rock Center, which is next to the Canadian Horseshoe Falls.
Step8
Cross over the Rainbow Bridge towards dusk. This allows you to see the falls illuminated. During summer, watch the fireworks display held every Friday and Sunday night.
