Treat Chronic Fatigue With Chinese Medicine

  1. Step 1

Look in an Asian or Chinese market for supplements. You may be able to find Chinese medicine at a health food store, but it will be sold under the common Western name.

  2. Step 2

Take a Bu Zhong Yi Qi Wan supplement. Like most Chinese medicines, this supplement is a natural plant extract. You take it in pill form with water about 6 to 8 times per day.

  3. Step 3

Try Xiao Chai Hu Wan pills to boost your immune system and help fight colds. This supplement is thought to also help reduce the liver and intestinal problems that can come with chronic fatigue syndrome.

  4. Step 4

Talk to your doctor or nutritionist about taking Astragalus Ten Formula. While not a "pure" Chinese medicine, this supplement contains some Chinese herbs, such as ginseng, and helps fight fatigue problems at several different locations in the body. You may need to see an herbalist to have this mixture prepared for you.

  5. Step 5

Find an herbalist who can prepare a Chinese ginkgo formula. This medicine can reduce many of the other medical problems that come with chronic fatigue, such as insomnia, indigestion and anemia.

  6. Step 6

Ask your doctor, nutritionist or herbalist about whether or not you can take several of these supplements at the same time. Some specialists believe that it's good to treat chronic fatigue with a combination of Chinese medicines, but certain supplements may interact with each other and make you nauseous.

Tips & Warnings
  • You may want to get supplements that have a high concentration in each pill to help limit the number of daily dosages.
  • Most Chinese medicines are completely natural, but that doesn't mean that they won't cause side effects in some people. Allergic reactions are the most common side effects of these chronic fatigue treatments.
  • Some supplements, like Bu Zhong Yi Qi Wan, should not be taken by pregnant or nursing women.
  • Don't drink excessive amounts of alcohol or smoke cigarettes while you treat chronic fatigue with Chinese medicine supplements.
  • Chinese herbs may not be the proper treatment if you have heart, liver or kidney disease in addition to chronic fatigue syndrome.
