Online fantasy football leagues let you make many changes to your team throughout the season. One of the best changes to make is to trade players who have been injured or who are on their bye weeks. You can also boost your team by trading for better players. Making trades can be one of the easiest ways to help your team. However, you might also encounter difficulties because of league rules, other teams controlling players, uncooperative teams and bad moves on your part.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Fantasy football players to trade
  • Knowledge of players' performances

Boost Your Fantasy Football Team With Trades

Step1
Trade with another league member by going to her page and selecting "trade." The page will give you a way to select a player on her team to trade for and someone on your team to trade to her. Every host site is different, so you will need to follow that site's specifics for conducting a trade.
Step2
Wait for approval on your trade. Some leagues are set so that every team in the league or a majority of teams must approve the trade. Some team owners will deny a trade that looks like it might hurt them if they still have to play your team.
Step3
Report problems to your league commissioner if you feel someone is being overly nasty to you. The easiest way to avoid unfair people is to make smaller trades for fewer players, such as one player for one player instead of two players for three players. This way others are more likely to allow the trade to go through.
Step4
Stay under the maximum. Some leagues limit the number of trades you are allowed to do each season. You can check this in your league website's global settings. If yours does limit the number of trades, conduct your trades wisely. Make them count and don't waste them on players you aren't sure about.
Step5
Don't allow yourself to feel desperate. When trading with someone else, never agree to a trade where you feel you are being pressured into a bad move, especially if it is because you need to replace a player who has been injured. it is often better to use the undrafted player page instead of trading with other team owners. You might not get as good a player from the undrafted page, but giving up too much to replace one player is not a smart move either.

Tips & Warnings

  • When trading, make sure you check when the player you are trading for has his bye week. Try to trade for players who have already passed their bye weeks so you don't have to worry about replacing them again during the bye week or picking up other players to avoid having an incomplete roster.
