Part of the enjoyment of motorsports, such as Formula One racing, is to find a specific racing team to support. Whether you choose to support a team because of the talent of its drivers, or due to brand loyalty to the types of cars the team drives, you can enjoy the camaraderie of fellow fans throughout the Grand Prix racing season.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Tickets to Grand Prix races
  • Passport
  • Licensed apparel

Support a Formula One Team

Step1
Choose a particular Formula One racing team to support. This may be based upon favorite drivers, cars types (such as Ferraris, Porsches or McLarens) or wins in previous seasons.
Step2
Support your Formula One Team by watching as many televised Grand Prix races as possible. Find out about racing channels, such as ESPN and the Speed Channel, that may be offered by your local satellite or cable provider. By watching these channels, advertising revenues that are based upon viewers will help to finance the sport.
Step3
Attend as many Grand Prix races as possible in order to support your racing team in person. Be sure to arrive early and attend all pre-race events, such as qualifying heats and press conferences. You may be lucky enough to run into some of your favorite drivers at these events, giving them the encouragement they need to win.
Step4
Purchase licensed Formula One apparel, such as caps, jackets, shirts and watches, that recognizes the particular team you want to support. This apparel is available from most sporting-goods chains. You may also find it on the official website of the team you choose to support.
Step5
Check out Formula1.com to gather statistics on your favorite racing team or to find out about future racing events in the season (see Resources below). On this website, you'll also be able to purchase tickets, make hotel reservations and book airfare for Grand Prix races. Just make sure you have a passport, since most racing venues are located abroad.

Tips & Warnings

  • Attendance at Formula One events has decreased significantly, possibly due to increased interest in NASCAR. Finding a racing team to support is an excellent way to generate enthusiasm for this original motorsport.
