Fill the mattress with air and place it under water. Press on it and look for air bubbles. That is the place where your leak will show up. Sealing the hole with Seam Grip (one possible product you could buy). It can also permanently patch holes and repair tears or rips in other gear.

Follow the directions for the adhesive carefully. Make sure you let the mattress dry completely before attempting repair. Mark the hole with indelible marker so you will be able to find it again.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can repair other household things with the left over product.
  • Backpacks and rain boots can be repaired the same way.
  • Browse "seam grip" to find the product online.
  • Keep children away from adhesives as they can be dangerous.

on 9/7/2007 Fill it with air. Have someone large lay down on it and listen for the hiss or air. Feel around the seams for air coming out.

on 12/8/2008 My mattress is a queen size and has a double mattress so it is very large. I don't have a pool and the bathtub is out of the question. I need to know if there is a way to find a very small hole without submerging it in water.
