How to Use a Gift Bag With Tissue

The easiest way to not wrap a present but have the appearance of decoration and delight the receiver is to gift in a bag with tissue. There are many ways to be creative. There is an advantage when giving to a child or a person who cannot open wrapping paper easily due to hand or coordination problems. It is nice for them to be able to open their own gift and not have to hand it to a helper. Also, it is considerate of a hospitalized person who may tire from dealing with tape and tight wrappings. Also, the receiver has a way to carry the gift home. The benefit to the environment and economics is that gift bags are reusable. They can be made to look very attractive with ease.

Things You’ll Need:

• A colored gift bag or a small brown shopping bag with handles.
• A packet of tissue wrap which can be inexpensively obtained at $1 store.

1. Blue gift bag with tissue and a bit of ribbon taped to the side. The same blue bag in the first image with a bit of ribbon taped to the side. You can also use a flower, or any small ornament you wish. You can cut out a picture from a magazine and glue it to the side. Children like to decorate gift bags with colored sparkles and glue.
2. Packet of colorful tissue wrap First put the present into the bag. If it is breakable wrap it in some bubble wrap or air pop corn and use that for cushion. You can eat the left over. There's a benefit. If you are adding a card place it inside on the edge so it won't wrinkle. Then take the tissue paper and stuff it gently inside leaving some showing at the top for decoration. Do not pack it tightly inside. It really just floats on top.
3. Gauzy gift bag - made of fabric You can use the newer gauzy bags which women love. They use them afterwards for dress up purses or to store jewelry or other delicate items. They can be used also for potpourri in the bathroom. These bags cost a dollar or less and can be found in craft shops and sewing stores.
4. Brown shopping bag all dressed up for holiday gift giving. You can use small brown shopping bags with handles and decorate to add some style and color.
   Keep in mind a nice gift would be to create a stack of bags and give them to your friends so they have bags to use when they give a gift. It saves them from shopping for them and they would appreciate the thought and effort. Have fun!

• Look around the house for things you can use to glue on to the bag.
• Use buttons from old shirts to make button faces for children 5 and up. Little kids may eat them so exercise caution for them.
• This can be a fun project to do with the kids or older people who have good creative ideas.
