Assemble your tools and unplug your dishwasher to uninstall the appliance. Turn off the water, the electricity at the breaker and power to the dishwasher. The appliance's shutoff valve is usually beneath the sink.

      • 2

Remove the bottom front panel of the dishwasher to access the wiring.

      • 3

Verify that the circuit is off with a voltage meter before taking the electrical cord out of the junction box.

      • 4

Locate the wire nuts that connect the black and white wires from the power source to your dishwasher. Look for the green screw that attaches the bare ground wire to the junction box. Remove the wire nuts and separate the wires, green first followed by white and black. Move the wires out of your way.

      • 5

Find the water inlet line on the underside of the dishwasher and unscrew the nut. Unfasten the appliance's drain line (located below the sink) from your sink's drain line or garbage disposal by releasing the hose clamp. Have a towel or rag nearby to clean up any water remaining in the line.

      • 6

Open the dishwasher door and remove the screws that hold it to the bottom of the countertop.

      • 7

Guide your dishwasher and the drain line slowly out of the opening.

      • 8

Install your new dishwasher, connect the electricity and restore power.

      • 9

Properly dispose of your old dishwasher.

    Tips & Warnings

    • You can only see the clips securing your dishwasher in place when the door is open.

    • Protect your floor by covering it with cardboard or a drop cloth.

    • Exercise caution when dealing with electricity.
